What is LaMothe & Daughters? Good question - and one I plan on answering myself as I go along. It all started in 1990 when Kasey LaMothe was born.....just kidding, we're not going back that far!
A Little Background
Even as a young girl, I was an extreme Type A. I had my life all planned out. I was going to go to a great education while playing collegiate volleyball, where I would also meet my husband. I always wanted to be a young mom, inspired by my parents who had children young and seemed to know how to do it correctly. So why not follow that route?
While I did go to a good university and played volleyball, I also got the reality check that many 20-somethings get: life doesn't always go as planned.
New Life Plan?
In 2018, my life took a dramatic turn when I was hit by a car as a pedestrian walking in a crosswalk. This is where the story actually begins. My life was turned upside down in the blink of an eye, and it took me 18 months to recover to the point of "normal" life. Through my recovery process, I grappled with how precious life is and how real the silent struggle is for everyone. I keep those feelings of gratitude and compassion with me every day.
I also kept my mind busy by making Excel spreadsheets and I watched a lot of The Great British Baking Show. In my normal day job, I work with flavors, so the new combinations the contestants made were very interesting to me. I told myself that I would bake some of the things they were making once I was able to get back in the kitchen.
Life As I Know It
In late 2019 I got married to my best friend, the most patient guy I know, Chris. He is always quick to ask how he can help me, even when I have nutty ideas like starting a blog. We wanted to start a life together as quickly as we could, so...
-
2 became 3 (2020)
-
3 became 4 (2022)
-
4 became 5 (2024)
Busy 5-year stretch, huh?
Starting The Blog
Having such a fierce desire to get back on my feet and live my life, I've found myself wondering where that 20-something went, with hobbies of her own and time to spend on herself. I'm constantly stuck between wanting to spend every minute with my babies and wanting to rediscover myself and what I like to do. Hence this blog, which is something I would have absolutely no confidence in starting without the constant love and support of Chris, my parents and great big family.
Finding My Why
This blog is meant as an ode to Kasey LaMothe, the lady I was before starting a family with Chris, and our daughters - the reason I get up every morning to try my best.
